Your Rights

In 1994 Congress passed a law called the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-employment Rights Act (“USERRA”).  USERRA provides a variety of protections, that include, but are not limited to the right to keep your job given your military service and the right to get your job back once you return from military service.

USERRA was written, in part, by a retired U.S. Navy Captain named Sam Wright.  Sam is now an attorney for the Reserve Officers Association (“ROA”) and writes extensively about legal developments relating to the USERRA law.  Sam’s writings are available at http://www.servicemembers-lawcenter.org/
